The Institute of Mexican Culture, or as you may have known us before Instituto de Mexico, has been around since the late 1990’s.
Our history is long and in collaboration with many of our leading institutions like the Atlanta History Center, High Museum of Art, Woodruff Arts Center, Georgia State’s Rialto theater, the Dogwood Festival, and the Westminster School. Through these relationships we have benefited our community with events and programs that highlight the culture and traditions of Mexico.
One example of how we benefit the community is through our very own Laura Murvartian Fiesta de Libros. This is a program that resides within the Institute that makes books accessible to Latino children in order to expose them to age-appropriate literature and to provide them with books that they can enjoy at home. To date, Fiesta de Libros has donated more than 12,000 books. Since its foundation, the Mexican Consulate has supported the efforts of the Institute of Mexican Culture
